Vintage Afghan Baluch Pictorial Animal Rug – 1′10″ × 2′10″

This one-of-a-kind vintage pictorial rug is attributed to the Afghan Baluch weaving tradition.

An intricate geometric medallion forms the center of the deep navy field, combining ochre, rust, burgundy, green and muted red. Stylized animal and bird-like figures surround the central composition, accompanied by small floral and geometric accents in ivory, blue and green.

A narrow repeating border frames the design in earthy rust, ochre and olive tones. Short ivory fringe finishes the ends and emphasizes the rug’s handmade character.

Measuring approximately 22 × 34 inches, this compact piece works beautifully beside a bed, in an entryway, reading corner or displayed vertically as textile art.
