Vintage Afghan Baluch Balisht Bag-Face Rug – 1′5″ × 2′9″
$189.99
This one-of-a-kind vintage textile is attributed to the Afghan Baluch weaving tradition and was likely originally woven as the decorative pile face of a rectangular balisht pillow or storage bag.
Its burgundy-red field is filled with repeating stepped medallions arranged in three balanced columns. Shades of dusty pink, muted green, orange, brown and yellow introduce unexpected color, while small ivory accents create fine detail between the larger motifs.
Deep navy and burgundy borders surround the field with geometric lattice patterns and colorful woven accents. Slight irregularities, subtle wear and short uneven end fibers reflect the textile’s vintage age and handmade construction.
Measuring approximately 17 × 33 inches, this versatile piece may be used as a small accent rug, wall textile, bench layer, tabletop display or decorative cushion front.
